We the People of the United States...

These words stand out to me on a wonderful, one-page document that is framed on a wall of my home: The Constitution of the United States of America. I see these words each and every day and am reminded that I am part of "The People" and our government allows "We the People" to vote our representatives for our voice in government. How lucky are we?

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

It is now a time when the voice of the people must be heard.

Bellevue is now at a critical crossroads. The landscape of our city is on the verge of significant and lasting changes. We are just starting to emerge from a severe recession where many families lost their homes, their jobs or their businesses. The City is grappling with the possibility of increasing taxes on individuals and business. We need to prioritize our dollars to make sure we are funding the critical infrastructure that we need and plan responsibly for the future growth of Bellevue which cannot be delayed. As we build this infrastructure we need to make sure public safety is at the forefront, along with the needs of our neighborhood communities and business centers to ensure the high quality of living we have in Bellevue today remains for our children in the future.

I have spent the last 20 years working in the private sector, volunteering and more specifically the last 6 years of my time volunteering in Bellevue listening to citizens on how they would like their community and city to work for them. I will be spending my time listening to you, not just until November 8th but throughout my term should you choose me to represent you on the Bellevue City Council. As your representative, I commit that I will be open and accessible during my entire time in office, not just in an election year.

Building a world class city is one we must do together as Bellevue Citizens.
